Steampunk is a fantastical or speculative genre. Steampunk fiction typically depicts societies and technologies derived from the eras when steam power was still widely used. Elements of the Victorian and Edwardian eras are common, but steampunk also draws from steam-powered societies earlier in the 19th Century/Industrial Revolution.
